Poem in The Gay & Lesbian Review Issue #184
I am thrilled to announce that I have a poem published in the Sept/Oct 2026 issue, Issue 184, of The Gay & Lesbian Review! G&LR is such a prestigious journal, and a core cultural focal point within the national queer community, that for a nonbinary bisexual relatively new to publishing, it really means so much to me to have been selected to be a part of an issue.
And what an issue to be a part of! I love the cover art chosen as well as the central theme of cruising and public sexual expression, even in the face of oppression. I cannot wait to dig into the articles, media reviews, and other poems included in its contents.
My poem is titled "Coming off the night shift" and was inspired by my local neighborhood, the way the red and green traffic lights reflect off the pavement while driving at night, and a local writing contest prompt about movement and traveling. There's something sweet in the romanticism in coming home to a loved one late at night, and I hope G&LR readers resonate with it.
